Kennedy family

I have been an administrator in Johnston County Schools for 8 years, all in Smithfield and Selma-area schools. I was an assistant principal at Smithfield-Selma High School where we created a Freshman Academy that raised the graduation rate by nearly 20% and lowered the dropout rate by 65%. Prior to coming to Selma Middle, I was principal of South Campus Community Middle School where we utilized AVID strategies in the classroom and focused on community service and character development.

Prior to going into administration, I was a high school science teacher and a high school basketball coach and athletic director, as well as an assistant basketball coach at the small college level. I also coached high school football.

I have a bachelors degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tar Heels!), a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, and an education specialist degree and Doctor of Education degree from Liberty University.

My wife teaches science at another Johnston County middle school and I have two children, one in 9th grade and one in 5th grade. I enjoy traveling, sports, and the beach. I am a huge Carolina Panthers fan and am a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.
